Mercy CEO accepts new position

Mercy Hospital CEO Jason Douglas has submitted his resignation to the hospital’s Board of Directors, effective July 31, 2013.

Douglas is leaving Mercy to serve as President of Regional Enterprises Incorporated and CEO of Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wisconsin. Regional Enterprises Incorporated operates as the umbrella organization for both MMC and Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.

Douglas has served as Mercy’s CEO since September 2005. During his tenure, Douglas led a number of key initiatives that strengthened Mercy’s financial position, improved quality, and increased both patient and employee satisfaction scores. Douglas also was instrumental in the planning for Mercy’s new expansion and renovation project now underway.

“I’ve been blessed and grateful to have been part of the Mercy family for eight years,” Douglas said. “As I offered to the board, there is not a more kind and caring staff anywhere. I look forward to seeing Mercy staff provide care in a new facility that reflects their commitment to excellence. I thank the community, board and the staff for their support during my tenure here.”

“We appreciate the superb leadership Jason has provided Mercy for the last eight years,” said Kelly Goeb, M.D, Chair of Mercy’s Board of Directors. “He has placed Mercy in an excellent position for the future, including the beautiful, patient-focused expansion and renovation project which will continue as planned.  We wish Jason every success as he continues to build his career.  Mercy will continue to move forward, building on the strong leadership of our administrative team and the skill and compassion of our staff."

Mercy’s Board of Directors will meet June 18 to develop a plan for the search for a new CEO.
