Mercy to serve as base for medical helicopter over Memorial Day weekend
Residents of the Moose Lake area may notice an increase in helicopter activity over the Memorial Day weekend. In anticipation of a busy holiday weekend, Life Link III will base an air medical helicopter at Mercy Hospital on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From this strategic location, Life Link III can respond even faster to any emergencies that require air medical transportation within the region.
Life Link III specializes in air medical transportation, moving patients between hospitals or responding directly to a scene if requested. In partnership with local healthcare and emergency providers, Life Link III works to ensure optimal response and care are provided for patients. The company already has five air medical helicopter bases in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, and was pleased to be able to offer this additional resource for the Memorial Day weekend, which has historically been a busy time for traumatic and medical emergencies.
In traumatic and medical emergencies, the transport provided by a helicopter can often mean the life-saving difference for patients. By decreasing the amount of time the patient spends out of the hospital environment, the chances for a better outcome are often improved.
Life Link III provides air medical transportation via helicopter and airplane ambulance. Life Link III is a consortium-owned organization with helicopter bases in Anoka, Hibbing, Hutchinson and Alexandria, Minnesota and Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Consortium members include: Essentia Health, Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, Fairview Health Services, Hennepin County Medical Center, Regions Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, St. Cloud Hospital/CentraCare Health System and St. Luke’s.
