OR Nursing Assistant - Full Time

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a FT Nursing Assistant in the Surgery Center. This person will care for patients in the Surgery Center or other medical departments, under direction of the nursing and medical staff.  This person will also work in sterile processing, and will be trained to wash endo scopes.  The position will be 8 hour shifts, the start/end times of the shift may vary.  Position may cross-train to the Hospital for NAR.

Qualifications:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of 84 hour Nursing Assistant course and listing on MN Registry for Nursing Assistants. 12 hours applicable education annually required. BLS certification required. Experience with computer programs such as Meditech, Excel, EMR &PCS, E-clinical works.  Strong/efficient typing skills, fielding phone calls to appropriate personnel, proper phone etiquette, positive customer service, strives to diffuse conflicts directly, respectful to others.

Health Unit Coordinator – Part-time,  .6 (4 12-hr shifts)

Mercy Hospital has an immediate opening for a (.6), 12 hour, rotating day shift, Health Unit Coordinator in its Med/Surg Department. The Health Unit Coordinator provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.  These duties include interviewing incoming patients or representatives and entering information required for admission into the computer, making special arrangements to meet patient’s needs, scheduling tests according to physician and nursing orders, monitoring and ordering supplies, and transcribing orders to patient’s electronic medical record.   The HUC communicates effectively via a variety of modalities (telephone, electronic, and in person) with patients, visitors, and facility staff and plays an integral role in communication across the continuum of care.  Most of the duties are performed under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.

Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Certificate from a Medical Secretary Program or Office Management Program; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as a Health Unit Coordinator (CHUC) required, or obtain within six months of hire. Medical Terminology knowledge. Admitting experience helpful. Notary License preferred. Must have computer skills, Meditech experience preferred. Ability to prioritize and work independently. Must be able to work in a team setting. 

Employee is expected to have acceptable sustained attendance. Courtesy and tact (professional attitude) must be used at all times with customers, including co-workers.

Admitting Clerk - Part-time, .6, two (2) openings

Mercy Hospital has two (2) openings for Admitting Clerks, part-time .6 (8 hour Afternoon/Evening,  Nights, and Day shift). This position may work any of the shifts listed above depending on the needs of the facility, but will be mostly afternoon/evening and midnight shifts. This candidate will interview incoming patients or representatives and enter information required for admission into computer system.

Qualifications:  Successful candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be highly organized and able to prioritize, detail oriented, have basic computer (MS Word, Internet, and Email) skills, accounting, word processing and clerical skills with exceptional customer service and communication skills.  Three to six months related experience is desired.

Nursing Assistants - Casual, Two (2) Openings

Mercy Hospital has two (2) openings for casual Nursing Assistants (8 hour, afternoon/evening rotating shift) position.  The position is based in Med-Surg/ICU, but may work in ED/OB/OR/HC/INF as assigned.  This position is responsible for services related to dietary, environmental services, transportation, materials management and guest relations.  Performs a wide variety of environmental, patient care and data entry functions on the patient care unit.  Participates in team activities and quality improvement programs.  Participates in performance improvement activities including drills.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be registered on MN State Registry for Nursing Assistants.  Must have current BLS, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.  Safe Patient Handling training preferred.

Surgical Tech - Full Time

Mercy Hospital has a full-time day, 8 hour shift (with varying start times and call rotation), Surgical Technician position available in the Surgery Department. This person will assist the physician and surgical team before, during, and after surgery. Communicates with other OR staff to ensure the best interests of the patient are met.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants must be a graduate of a Surgical Technician program from college or technical school with 2-5 years of experience in a wide variety of Surgical Tech duties. Must have current CPR certification, BLS, CST or able to obtain within 6 months of hire, be computer literate, and have collaborative communication skills.  Must maintain confidentiality of patient's surgery.

Nutrition Assistant - Casual (.4)

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a Casual .4, 6 hour, afternoon/evening shift, Nutrition Assistant. Under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Nutrition Assistant will interview and assist patients with meal selections, and will deliver patient meals directly to the patients on the nursing units.  In addition this position will portion food in accordance with regulations, use standardized recipes, clean food preparation areas, tray line, pots and pans, equipment (must be able to use all equipment in kitchen, includes ovens, mixers, steamers, slicer, dishwasher,  steam jacketed kettle, and blenders). Maintain pot and sink area, work on patient tray assembly, employee cafeteria and special functions.  Must be able to work in a cook capacity and be able to cross train into all dietary positions.

 Qualifications: Applicants must be a minimum 18 years old, High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 months related experience preferred with the ability to read, write, understand and follow written and oral instructions.  Must be available to work scheduled shifts and call availability

Wellness Center Attendant, Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a casual Wellness Center Attendant. This position requires day, afternoon/evening shifts. The shifts will be mostly on Saturday and Sundays, noon-4pm (shifts may be up to 8 hours if needed). The Wellness Center Attendant is the first person our members will interact with. You are expected to always present a professional, courteous, and friendly attitude.

Qualifications: Open to high school students, and High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working as a fitness center attendant preferred.

 

CPR Required or obtained within 3 months of hire. Must be flexible, friendly, detail oriented with good communication, computer and organization skills.

Respiratory Therapist - Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a casual Respiratory Therapist in the Cardiopulmonary Services Department. This is an 8 hour, day shift position. The Respiratory Therapist evaluates and treats patients according to physicians orders. The RT performs outpatient procedures along with inpatient treatments and procedures.

Qualifications: Current licensure in State of Minnesota as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Registered Respiratory Therapist degree from 2 or 4 year college, 4-year preferred. Prefer 5+ years experience. Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served. Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients rights in the delivery of care. Demonstrates leadership abilities; able to work under stressful situations. Possesses good oral and written communication skills. Meditech knowledge desired.

Paramedic - Full-Time

Mercy Hospital has an immediate opening for a full-time Paramedic with our ambulance EMS department. This position requires three, 12-hour, shifts per week with every other weekend rotation. It is primarily a night (6pm to 6am) shift position, with the potential to be scheduled for a day shift. A minimum of one on-call shift is also required per month.

 

The primary responsibility of this position, while on duty, involves working as a member of our Emergency Medical team responding to 911 calls, assessing, transporting sick patients and administering medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies.

 

In addition to responding to 911 calls, the first four hours of the shift (6 pm to 10 pm) would involve duties assigned by the Ambulance Supervisor, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. The next 8 hours of the shift (11 pm to 6 am) would involve working in the Emergency Department of the hospital, administering patient care, monitoring and treatment of Emergency Department patients, when assistance is needed.

Qualifications:  One year certificate from college or technical school; Preferred: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

NR EMT-P, ACLS, PALS, current Minnesota driver's license. With ITLS or PHTLS desired.

Paramedic - Casual (2 Openings)

Mercy Hospital has an immediate opening for two Paramedics (12 hour shift) with our ambulance EMS department. These positions will work as members of emergency medical teams, assess, transport sick patients and administer medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies. Will also work in the emergency department of the hospital, administer care and treatment of emergency department patients when assistance is needed. 

Qualifications: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MN State licensure as Paramedic, ACLS, PALS, current driver's license. With ITLS or PHTLS desired.

CMA/LPN - Specialty Clinic - Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a casual, day (8 hour shift) Certified Medical Assistant/LPN in its Specialty Clinic. The CMA/LPN supports providers in the delivery of patient care services at the specialty clinic. Rooms patients, takes and records vitals signs and obtains medical history.; Assists provider in administering patient tests or providing treatment. Cleans, organizes, and restocks examination rooms.; Under the direction of a provider, may give injections. May also assist in x-ray, lab, or patient record keeping areas. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; have collaborative communication skills and treat staff, physicians, and families with consideration and respect.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program and certification, or a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. 2-5 years experience preferred. Nursing License if LPN, BLS Certification or able to obtain within 6 months of hiring. Computer skills required, Meditech preferred.

Speech Language Pathologist - Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a casual, day, 8 hour shift, Speech Language Pathologist. This person will evaluate all patients referred regarding language, communication or swallowing disorders. They will establish and provide treatment programs designed to meet individual patient's needs and will maintain comprehensive patient documentation regarding evaluation, treatment programs, progress and discharge summary information. This person will provide treatment to all ages in the hospital, skilled nursing facility, outpatient and home care, and school settings. This person will also use the following equipment; Vital-Stim, Visi-pitch and Nasometer.

Qualifications: This position will require a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology; Licensure and working toward Certificate of Clinical Compliance from ASHA.  New graduates are welcome.
