Medical Lab Technician – Full Time

Mercy Hospital has an immediate opening for a Full-time Medical Lab Technician on a rotating shift

Qualifications: Medical Lab Technician applicants must have obtained an AA Degree as a Medical Lab Technician, ASCP or NCA and must meet the qualifications as per CLIA requirements to perform high complexity testing. Must be able to work independently and have computer skills. Must be able to assume on-call hours.  Ideal candidate should have past experience in a hospital laboratory

Housekeeping/Janitor/Laundry - Casual

Mercy Hospital has a casual day/afternoon/evening, 8-hour shift, opening for a Housekeeping/ Janitor/ Laundry in the Environmental Services Department. This position will perform a variety of janitorial duties and is responsible for floor care/maintenance, as well as cleaning and disinfecting hospital patient rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, halls, and other areas to keep the Hospital sanitary, clean, and odor free. Tends laundering machines to clean articles such as sheets, towels, medical cloths, wiping cloths, filter cloths, bags, sacks, personal clothes and uniforms.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to organize time and to work alone.

RN Chemotherapy – Part Time

Mercy Hospital has a regular .6 part time (8 hour day, afternoon/evening shifts) Infusion/Chemotherapy RN opening. This person is responsible for overseeing and administering chemotherapy treatments for patients receiving chemo therapy and providing both support and education for patients and families. The Chemotherapy Infusion RN: Reviews physician orders for chemotherapy/infusion, verifying protocol, drug, dose, frequency, pre and post medications and lab tests. Schedules chemotherapy and infusion treatments for patients according to physician order(s). Coordinates and schedules lab and diagnostic tests ordered by physician. Instructs chemotherapy and infusion patients on drugs, side-effects and interventions to manage chemo/drug-related symptoms. Assesses chemotherapy and infusion patients prior, during and after treatments for response to treatment, side-effects and complications. Responds to medical or emotional crisis during chemotherapy and infusion treatments and communicates to physician any adverse reactions or concerns. Follows proper protocols and procedures for handling toxic substances and universal precautions to assure safety for the patient, family and nurse.  Demonstrates familiarity with Policies and Procedures of Chemotherapy Department and Mercy Hospital.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of Associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college, nursing diploma or graduated of four-year nursing program. 3-5 years of Oncology experience, IV and central line skills desired.  Computer skills required; Meditech experience preferred. Must have current BLS and Chemotherapy Certification or be able to obtain within one year of hire.

RN – Part Time

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a Flexible .6 - .9 (12 hour, rotating night shift)  RN in Med/Surg/ICU.  This position will work every third weekend.  It is based out of Med-Surg/ICU, but may train to ED/OB/OR/HC/INF depending on applicants experience and the needs of the hospital. The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served.  He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the standards of care.  He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.  Participates in performance improvement activities including drills.

Qualifications:  RN applicants must be a graduate of an accredited RN program and currently be licensed in Minnesota. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four year degree in Nursing.  Three to five years related experience preferred.  Must have current BLS, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.  ACLS, PALS preferred.

Nutrition Assistant – Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a Casual (.4 FTE) Nutrition Assistant. Shifts will be 4, 6, or 8 hours, day/afternoon/evening shifts.  Under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Nutrition Assistant will interview and assist patients with meal selections, and will deliver patient meals directly to the patients on the nursing units.  In addition this position will portion food in accordance with regulations, use standardized recipes, clean food preparation areas, tray line, pots and pans, equipment (must be able to use all equipment in kitchen, includes ovens, mixers, steamers, slicer, dishwasher,  steam jacketed kettle, and blenders). Maintain pot and sink area, work on patient tray assembly, employee cafeteria and special functions.  Must be able to work in a cook capacity and be able to cross train into all dietary positions.

Qualifications: Applicants must be a minimum 18 years old, High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 months related experience preferred with the ability to read, write, understand and follow written and oral instructions.  Must be available to work scheduled shifts and call availability.

Patient Account Representative – Full Time

Mercy Hospital has an immediate Full Time opening for a Patient Account Representative in the Business Office. This person will verify various hospital outpatient, inpatient, and homecare insurance coverage; compute patient benefits, assist with prior authorizations/pre-certifications, submit claims to insurances, complete follow-up process with insurances, and communicate with both insurance companies and patients in regards to their financial obligation.   

Qualifications: Successful candidates must be highly organized and able to prioritize, detail oriented, able to work in fast-paced and in stressful situations. Have basic computer, accounting, word processing and clerical skills. Microsoft and Meditech knowledge desired. Have exceptional customer service and communication skills. Previous Medical Billing experience or completion of a Medical billing course is desired. Knowledge of the revenue cycle as it pertains to billing hospital/physician billing is preferred. Must be very task and detail oriented. The candidate must have the ability to work independently on projects as assigned and as a team member.

Wellness Center Attendant  -- Casual

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a casual Wellness Center Attendant. The shifts will be mostly on Saturday and Sundays, noon-4pm (shifts may be up to 8 hours if needed) The Wellness Center Attendant is the first person our members will interact with.  You are expected to always present a professional, courteous, and friendly attitude. You will be out in the fitness area interacting with members.  You will greet all members and maintain a healthy, positive relationship with them.  You will answer questions about general fitness, equipment operation, health/safety, membership and class questions (rates, class costs, etc.).  The attendant has varied responsibilities as the host or hostess of the center; the membership management system, providing general orientation to the center for new members, billing and receiving payments, light cleaning of equipment/facility, data entry, answering a multiline telephone system and other duties.

Qualifications: Open to high school students, and High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous experience working as a fitness center attendant preferred.CPR Required or obtained within 3 months of hire. Must be flexible, friendly, detail oriented with good communication, computer and organization skills.

Nursing Assistant-Registered

Mercy Hospital has an opening for a .6 NAR (8 hour, rotating shift) position.  The position is based in Med-Surg/ICU, but may work in ED/OB/OR/HC/INF as assigned.  This position is responsible for services related to dietary, environmental services, transportation, materials management and guest relations.  Performs a wide variety of environmental, patient care and data entry functions on the patient care unit.  Participates in team activities and quality improvement programs.  Participates in performance improvement activities including drills.

Qualifications:. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training preferred. Successful completion of 84 hour Nursing Assistant course.  Listing  on MN State Registry for Nursing Assistants is required. 12 hours of applicable education annually required.  Must have current BLS, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Home Health Aide - Casual

8 hour (day) shift. Will care for in-home clients to meet client's personal care needs as supervised and written in a plan of care prepared by a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications:  High School or General Education Degree (GED).; or one to three months experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification from training in Minnesota NA/R Home Health Aide Program or equivalent.  Complete competency evaluation of department.  CPR certified and current MN driver's license and valid auto insurance.

 Paramedic – Full Time

The position requires three, 12-hour, shifts per week with every other weekend rotation.  Primarily a night (6pm-6am) shift position.  With the potential to be scheduled for a day shift.  A minimum of one on-call shift is also required per month. The primary responsibility of this position, while on duty, involves working as a member of the Emergency Medical Team responding to 911 calls, assessing, transporting sick patients and administering medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies. In addition to responding to 911 calls, the first four hours of the shift (6pm-10pm) would involve duties assigned by the Ambulance Supervisor, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.  The next 8 hours of the shift (11pm-6am) would involve working in the Emergency Department of the hospital, administering patient care, monitoring and treatment of Emergency Department patients, when assistance is needed. 

Qualifications: One year certificate from college or technical school. Preferred is an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  NR EMT-P, ACLS, PALS, current Minnesota driver’s license, with ITLS or PHTLS desired.

Paramedic – Casual (2 openings) 

Two casual paramedics (12 hour shifts) with the ambulance EMS department.  Involves working as a member of the Emergency Medical Team responding to 911 calls, assessing, transporting sick patients and administering medical treatment and intervention for injured persons according to established protocols and policies. Will also work in the emergency department of the hospital, administer care and treatment of emergency department patients when assistance is needed. 

Qualifications: One year certificate from college or technical school. Preferred is an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  NR EMT-P, ACLS, PALS, current Minnesota driver’s license, with ITLS or PHTLS desired.
