Your inpatient stay
Caring for you is our top priority. Our experienced and skilled medical team will care for you with compassion and respect, providing you with high quality medical care.
We encourage you to participate in your health care. If you have questions or concerns about any aspect of your care, please do not hesitate to ask at any time.
Your Medical Team
A team of health professionals will assist in your care. This team consists of a physician who is assigned to see you at least once daily, a nurse as well as an aide. Other staff may assist you during your care, including lab technicians, diagnostic imaging technicians, therapists, housekeeping and dietary staff. A discharge planner will help make sure you have what you need when it’s time for you to return home.
Expect staff at your bedside to discuss your care with you during the following times:
Bedside Shift Report
Nurse bedside shift report is when the nurses going off and coming on duty meet by your bedside to talk about your care. This gives you a chance to meet the nurse taking over your care, ask questions, and share important information. This will occur around 7 a.m. and again around 7 p.m.
Patient Care Rounds
A team consisting of Nursing, Social Service, Care Transitions, Dietitian, Pharmacist and Rehab (PT, OT and/or Speech), will come to your bedside daily (Monday through Friday) at 11:15 a.m. They will review progress with your hospitalization, review plans for discharge and answer any questions you may have regarding education needs and returning home.
Leaving the Hospital
When your doctor has written orders for your discharge, the nursing staff will help you prepare to leave. This process could be lengthy so please be prepared for a delay. If there is a certain time frame in which you need to leave, we will do all we can to accommodate you.
